The menstrual blood which flows out of a woman’s body every month is called ‘Raja’ or ‘Artava’ as per Ayurveda. Menstrual blood or rajas is considered as an Upadhathu or sub tissue of Rasa Dhathu (Plasma) according to Ayurveda concepts.
